Growing...Growing...&...Growing

So, I'm giving in and posting some pictures of the progress of my baby bump. Our baby boy is growing and we can't believe that he is going to be here so soon! I just keep getting bigger and bigger and I guess that is ok with me because that means he is doing what he is supposed to :) All the pictures are taken with my phone by me :) so sorry if I'm not posing or smiling.

Exciting News....

Baby Hurst is on the way! Mid-December Ry and I found out that we will be parents in August!!! We couldn't wait till 20 weeks to find out our baby's gender, plus we wanted our families to find out with us, so we cheated and went somewhere else here in DC that would tell us at 16 weeks and would also live stream the ultrasound so our families could be there too :) We took a gender poll from our families and here is what they came up with:

Bruce: boy
Holly: boy
Kyle: boy
Jordy: boy
Kenzie: boy

Dad

Mom & Lexi

Melly & Winston
Bjorg & Clint

Hannah: Girl
Garrett: ??

& ......................

And we couldn't be happier!

Baby boy is due August 23rd and we can't wait to meet him! Each ultrasound we go buy our little guy a gift and here is what we have so far:
These are our ultrasound gifts...

And these Ry bought all on his own :-) he can't help but buy stuff for our little guy.

And here are some pics of our little guy at 16 weeks.
All the pictures of his face are a little funny cause 1) he is only 16 weeks &
2) the umbilical cord was right in his face the whole ultrasound.

And this was actually around 12 weeks but I had to share cause it's my favorite.

Have I told you lately...

I don't know how to start this post because I haven't written in forever. It has been a long winter here in DC but finally it is warming up and the flowers are blooming! DC is so beautiful during the Spring; the cherry blossoms come out and it seems like all the trees have flowers on them. As soon as the weather starts warming up everyone and I mean everyone is outside eating lunch on the patios of restaurants and shopping shopping shopping. Speaking of shopping....I have the best husband ever; a few weeks ago, right before my birthday, I was having a rough day and Ryan surprised me with a few gifts. I was so surprised because he is usually at school on Tuesday nights, but on this specific Tuesday night when I got home I found him sitting on the coach; when I walked into the apartment, he look at me and said "go in the bedroom" I responded saying, "oh honey you got me something!" and he said, "why do you always assume I bought you something, couldnt i have just cleaned the room (in a kidding matter)" I walked into the room and found (drum roll please............) 3 BANANA REPUBLIC BOXES filled with clothes!!! (2 pairs of slacks, 2 spring sweaters, 1 ruffle bottom down shirt, a belt & spring scarf) sorry to brag, it is just that my Ry is awesome and the best part of the surprise wasn't the clothes, but the messages he wrote on the boxes, which you can see below.

As for my birthday....it was wonderful! Although I had to work, I got so many calls from people I love and as soon as I got home it was present time. Ryan got me a few dvds (Princess & the Frog :) Old Dogs & GLEE!!!!) he bought me tons of nerd ropes :) a really sweet card and a black clutch from Kate Spade & a bright yellow purse from Kate Spade!! (you can see a pic below) After we opened presents we went out to eat at Maggianos & got my favorite cupcakes at "Georgetown Cupcake." It was a perfect day and I felt very loved by everyone!

We are doing great: just working hard, seeing lots of movies, taking long walks when the weather allows and looking forward to amazing weather. Ryan graduates with his masters in May! So exciting and I think we are going to be getting some visitors through out this year (Sully, Sam, hopefully Mel & Jason, Ry's Family & crossing my fingers....my mom) VERY EXCITED! Below are some pictures of the John Mayer concert Ry and I attended in Feb. at the Verizon Center (IT WAS AMAZING, WE ABSOLUTELY LOVE JOHN!!)

Oh quick question...I'm thinking of starting a fashion blog (weekly posts) on daily outfits...what do you think? I also have thought of doing an event blog, but I'm not sure...

So, I know

So I know...I'm terrible at this whole blogging thing. I haven't posted forever and it has started to wear on me (hearing Sam's voice in the head "seriously Meg, come on" :) I know you think this Sam every time you check my blog) so here you go :)

Lets see:

Work Update: Ok so last time I posted I announced to everyone that I got a new job at RSVP Catering, a full service catering and event planning firm/co. I'll be honest, the first few weeks were rough. I had the hardest time adjusting to my new life as a career girl :) Don't get me wrong, I have always worked, but this was different. I worked so hard to get to this point and when it wasn't exactly what I thought it would be, it was hard. I would call my mom everyday and cry, bad huh, it was because I was trying to make sure that this is what I wanted. I wanted to be sure that I was cut out for being an event planner. You all know that when you start something new it is the scariest thing & with me, I always want to be good at something right away. I always worked extra hard to get the really good grades and tried to be in the top of my class; I'm a little competitive :) and let's face it, I think everyone likes to feel good at something. I was so scared that i worked so hard and that this wasn't what I wanted. I stuck it out and now.... I LOVE IT! I'm still waiting to see if I'm going to be good at this, but one thing I do know is that when I'm helping at an event & in charge of the set-up it is the BEST thing ever! I love the craziness and helping to make everything look perfect. This business is crazy, there is so much to learn and everyday I learn something new; I love that about my job. This month has been crazy at work; my boss even has the kitchen make us food everyday for lunch because we don't get out of the office because we are so busy. It is hard work, but the time just flies by because I love what I am doing. Something I'm super excited about is, I become an Account Executive in January, which means I have my own clients and events. I'm super nervous, because I have to find my own clients and this is going to be a challenge, but we will see how I do. Another exciting part is last week my boss, Larry, gave me my first lead, a bride!!! I contacted her and wrote/created a proposal for her with a menu for a plated reception w/ passed & displayed hors d'oeuvres & equipment. I sent her the proposal and we will see if I get the account.. cross your fingers for me. I'm super excited, but afraid that if she doesn't choose RSVP then I will take it personal lol. It would be so awesome to have my first client be a bride, because I didn't think I would be doing weddings until after a year of working, cause that is what my boss had in mind; corporate first then brides, but I guess he changed his mind.

Ryan's Birthday: So my hubby turned 27 on November 11! Although I had to work all day & he had school that night from 8pm to 11pm it was still a fantastic day. I woke up extra early before work and decorated the apartment with streamers & balloons. I wrote I note for him on the mirror and off to work I went. When he woke up he had a surprise with a few presents, streamers, balloons and his fav. candies. When I got home he was doing homework, but I had him open presents and then he was off to school. When he got home everything was closed food wise, so we went to McDonalds (the only fast food place here in DC just about) We went home ate the food and then I sung Happy Birthday to Ry with 27 candles, party hat and party horn haha it was classic and so funny. It was such a good night and one of my fav birthdays :). The following weekend we went shopping and did a shopping spree for him, it was so much fun. I am truly lucky; I have a husband that I love being with and we love to just be together, and the best part... he LOVES to shop; and I love it! We spent 5 hours the other day at the mall shopping for christmas presents and the day before we were in Georgetown getting gifts for our families. It is so nice to have a husband that loves to be out and do fun things and never complains about me looking at everything; he actually is the one who says "try it on" which I love.

And yes I am going to do the mormon wife blog thing, were on her husband birthday she lists a few things she loves about her husband:
Thing I love about Ryan:
1) He loves his family so much and is so close to all his siblings. One thing that I loved about Ryan the first time I met him was how sweet he was to his little sister MacKenzie. He laughed with her, played with her, and we even took her on our first date :) he really takes an interest in all his siblings lives.
2) He has an amazing mind, he is so creative and always has new ideas. His mind is constantly going; I have never known anyone who has more ideas.
3) He is a dreamer. I have always been a real realistic person and wasn't really a daydreamer & when I met Ryan he made me dream, because he did it so much. I love that he dreams and wants to accomplish all those dreams.
4) He is so smart. I call him my walking encyclopedia :) He knows so many facts and can talk to anyone for hours about what they are interested in & not only talks to them but talks in depth about the subject and knows actual facts.
5) He is extremely supportive. He has never been one of those guys who expects me to put my goals on hold to let him do what he needs or wants to do. He is always the one pushing me to go after what I want & I love that .
6) He says the most random and hilarious things ever. ex: did you eat a skunk? the sink is a petri dish. and it goes on..I LOVE IT!
7) He always sees and remembers the good. He has this incredible ability to forgive and to love.
8) He loves school & is such a hard worker. I know whatever he chooses to do in life he will not only be successful, but will make a difference.
9) He is so sweet, thoughtful & kind. He spoils me so much and always knows exactly what to do to make me so happy or to make me smile when I'm mad or sad.
10) He loves politics, shopping, movies, reading, technology and more.

He is my best friend, the one that I confide in, the one I can stay up and talk to for hours and the one that I just love being with. When Ryan and I were first dating I just remember hoping that he liked me. I remember wanting to say just the right thing and wanting to be everything he wanted in someone; that was the first time that I hung on every word a guy said and wanted to impress him :)

Well Christmas time is almost here and Ryan, I and Romeo are so excited to be coming to Arizona. We can't wait to be with our families; we are counting down the days.

Well I better get going. Thanks for reading :)

Happy Birthday to you

Executive Assistant or Assistant to the Executive???

So I have some wonderful news.....I GOT A JOB!!! Remember those 2 interviews I talked about in my last posting, well RSVP Catering, a full-service catering and event planning firm, e-mailed me and asked me to contact the CEO Larry when I got a chance. Well I was so nervous to call him, because I didn't want rejection, but kept reassuring myself that rejection would probably come from an e-mail and not a phone call. So I picked up the phone and called. He told me that he would like to make me an offer and would be e-mailing it to me sometime that day and asked me to review the offer and get back to him. First, can I just say I felt so grown up haha I mean I've never been E-MAILED an OFFER for a job; this is the real deal :) So I looked over everything and I thought I was interviewing for the position of an Executive Assistant, but turns out that he wants me to only be an Executive Assistant for 3 months and then wants to make me an Account Executive!!!! That means I would have my own clients!!! He wants me to do corporate events for the first year and then wants me to do weddings and social events after that! It's perfect!! I mean I have lots to learn for training, and I'm super nervous, but I think I can do this. The company is based out of Fairfax, VA and we do events in all the DC, VA and MD areas. The company owns their own warehouse called Signature Party Rentals were we make our own linens, event decor, furniture, tablewares and etc. We basically focus on catering, but we will do anything a client wants including decor, lighting, flowers, and everything. I feel that it's the perfect start for me and I didn't know that it was possible that I could be doing exactly what I wanted right out of college :) I'm ecstatic!! So I start this coming Monday, Sept. 14 and my first 2 weeks (I got my schedule already) are killer, as in I'm going to die lol. For the first 2 weeks I will be doing everything from learning the computer system, to doing tastings, to working in the warehouse, on the loading dock and in the kitchen. The plan is to learn how every single thing works, so that I will be able to explain it to clients. I can't believe this is all happening, and I will be sure to keep everyone up to date on my NEW JOB! All I can say is I feel like one of the luckiest girls alive, I don't know what I did to deserve this blessing, but I love it!!!

Ok so now I have to tell you guys that just last weekend I attended one of the sweetest, most touching and funnest (I know it's not a word) weddings I have ever been to. One of my best friends here in DC, Paula Chrin, got married to the love of her life Troy Dibley. The wedding was in Salisbury, NC and took place on Sept. 5. So on Thursday, Sept. 3 I drove to Salisbury to attend her wedding and be there for some of the festivities before. I was sad that my honey, Ryan, couldn't come, but he had LSAT prep course on Saturday and also had work all day Friday, but he was missed very much. Well the whole weekend of the wedding was jam packed with fun festivities and lots of laughter. It was my first time ever meeting Paula's family and Troy's family. Troy's mom and step-father live in Salisbury and the wedding took place in their backyard, which is gorgeous. Their house is amazing and now I can truly say that I know exactly why Paula and Troy picked to get married there. Well to be short, I just fell in love with both families. Troy's family, with whom Paula is so close to, treated me like family and I loved every minute that I spent with everyone. It was so fun to put faces with the names of people Paula talks about and to share such a special moment in 2 peoples lives. On Friday, all the girls got pedicures and manicures and then the rehearsal dinner was that night at a gorgeous and delicious Italian restaurant. After the rehearsal dinner we headed back to the house and had a little welcome party for all the guests that were coming to the wedding. On Saturday, the day of the wedding, there was a Ladies Brunch at a local Bed and Breakfast, and then it was off to get Paula ready. And yes, I did Paula's hair and make-up. Although we did so many trial runs, I was still super nervous, because I'm not a hair genius, and this was such a big day, but everything worked out perfect and she looked beyond stunning. It was so wonderful to be there helping her and getting her ready for her big day; I am so grateful that she let me be apart of everything. I know this is going to sound so weird and cheesy, but after I was finished doing her hair and make-up and she put on her dress, me and her mother-in-law looked at her and I started to tear up, I know bad huh lol but I couldn't help it, she looked so beautiful and so happy. Well after we got her ready I ran next door and got ready in 20 min lol I know a record for me. The ceremony then started and it was amazing. I had never been to a non lds wedding before and can I just say that a wedding ceremony is such a beautiful thing. All the symbolism and the moment the groom sees the bride in her dress for the first time is so special. It made me wish that I had done a ceremony and then was sealed in the temple :) After the ceremony, I mingled and met lots of new people and then proceeded to the reception. I'm not going to take to much longer, but all I have to say about the reception was the food was delicious, the people were wonderful and EVERYONE, including me, danced the entire time. The music played was the best because it was a mix of old and new and every song people knew the words :) We all had so much fun, and although I didn't know anyone there when I got there on Thursday, except the bride and the groom, I left with a lot of friends and laughed and danced with some wonderful and hilarious people. I wish I had pictures of the dancing :) Just for a visual, we all danced to Thriller haha Well below are some pictures of the wedding..ENJOY!!

Talk to you soon!
